Henry Ford intended to use Fordlândia to fuel its latex business necessary for the manufacture of tires for their cars, after failing numerous times Ford also tried to relocate the plantations in Belterra, from 1945, new technologies allowed to manufacture tires from oil products, which made the project a total disaster.

We leave Alter do Chao southbound in the Tapajós river passing through the Jacundá Lake stopping at the Mureta Lake to walk on the beach and swim directly into the clean waters of the Tapajós River.
We will visit the Jurucuri Lake and go to the historic Pindobal Beach where you will learn about the rubber history in the Amazons. We will continue enjoying the beautiful beaches of Cajutuba with another stop in Aramanai beach to take pictures and enjoy a refreshing swim. We´ll proceed to Santo Domingo and Maguari Beach with opportunities for beautiful photos.
Next, stop FLONA Jamaraqua where we will go straight to the lovely Jamaraqua stream with crystal clear water, numerous fish and a lot of beauty to make a delicious picnic with fresh fruits “watermelon, pineapple, banana, passion fruit, orange, apple and coconut.”
We will walk to a great local craft store where you can buy rubber products produced by the natives in accessible prices. Then We’ll make the famous (***) Jamaraqua track with a local guides walking 7 km in 3-4 hours, visiting a huge samaúma tree, observe the viewpoint of the Tapajós River seeing varies animals and learning an unforgettable education of the fauna and flora of the region. Also available is a smaller trail “3 km 1.5 hours” just walking through the forest.

We will continue sailing along the banks of the Tapajós River through Acaratinga, Jaguarari, Piquiatuba, Marituba, Bragança, Tauari, Perim, Taquara, Prainha, Itapiúna, Paraiso, Jatuarana and Itapaiuna watching lots of natural beauty, making small stops for diving and interaction with nature before we arrived at the charming (******) Dream Refuge, the magnificent property of Mr. Julius Bentes where you will be thrilled with his impressive stories and works. We will camp on the beach with wild fire and diner.
Will tour the fantastic Dream Refuge with animals strolling around your feet, visit bayous, see 2 fish tanks made by the very hands of Mr. Julio, taste fruit direct from the trees, walk on the beaches and we will enjoy part of the track used by the famous Jungle Marathon. We will make a delicious wild dinner with campfire right on the beach.
We´ll continue up the Tapajos River enjoying the many natural beauties, communities, beaches and animals arriving by late afternoon in Fordlândia where we will stay at the (*******) Americana Inn.
(********) Fordlândia City tour to learn the city history, visit the unmistakable water tower hovering over the village, visit the huge warehouse with machinery and even Ford trucks from the ’30s, visit a residential street still with the original homes, visit the hospital and warehouses used for storage of the latex. Fordlândia is a place to visit by the historical context, to try to feel in the skin what was this Ford misadventure. Fordlândia is an opportunity to be part of history.
We will continue to (*********) Musum waterfall on the left side of the Tapajós River, a wonderful community in harmony with nature; we will visit some native homes, take a deep in a delightful stream and make the 2 hours trail to the waterfall. We will spend the remaining of day delighting ourselves in one of the best waterfalls in the area and will camp with fire and wild dinner.
We will return to the Musum community and depart to Alter do Chão with the last stop enjoying the magnificent sunset on the Tapajós River to meditate on the many beauties we saw, lived and learned in this unforgettable “Fordlândia Amazon ecotourism Tour” personalized by Selvagem Tours…
